How to Walk With Power

There are five things we can do to walk with power in our lives. 

This is power to be more than conquerors in any situation.

Think about something you need help with in your life, a situation you’re dealing with, something coming up, a relationship (friends/family), questions you have about life or God, emotions, anxieties, pressures, needs - anything.

Here are 5 things we can do to walk with power so we can get a solution to any situation:

1. Pray

2. Read the Word

3. Fellowhship

4. Give

5. Witness

When we’re faithful to do these five, we will walk with power and will overcome any situation.

1. Read and Study the Word

I Timothy 4:13: Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

To “give attendance” is to devote thought and effort to. What should we be devoted to and spend time doing? Reading God’s Word! We can know God’s will for us when we spend time reading His Word. Being in the Word faithfully, every day, is something we can work at until it becomes a part of who we are. 

It’s God’s will for us to read His Word and to study it too.

II Timothy 2:15:Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

“Study” in this verse means “to expend a diligent effort, remembering the brevity of time.” In other words, God is exhorting us to make an earnest, diligent, and faithful effort - utilizing our time wisely. This is how we read and study God’s Word. It requires building faithfulness and making an earnest effort.

2. Pray

   
   

The next thing we can do to walk with power and overcome any situation in life is to pray

1 Corinthians 14:15.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

We can pray with the spirit by speaking in tongues. 

Romans 8:26.

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

That’s perfect prayer to God. Speaking in tongues is your holy spirit making intercession for us to God (Holy Spirit).

“Pray with the understanding” is talking to God, your heavenly father. For example, you could pray, "God, thank you for a great day at work/school. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

3. Fellowship with Like-Minded Believers 

Acts 2:46

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.

The great thing about fellowshiping with other believers is that 

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. (Proverbs 27:17)

When we hang out with other believers, we share victories with each other, and that builds our believing. We also pray for each other and help each other understand the Word. 

I’ve learned so much about the Word, where to find things, and what things mean just from hanging out with other believers. 

4. Giving and Receiving

   
   

When we give, God gives back. In Luke 6:38, Jesus said: Give, and it shall be given unto you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. 

Picture a cup filled so full that it spills over the sides and runs down your arm. That's what God does when you give.

Giving is not just money. You can give your time. You can give someone a meal, you can give away extra clothes, or books that you don't need anymore. You can give a kind word, a smile, or a verse to someone who needs it. 

5. Witness and Undershepherd

   
   

When you are walking with power, your life will shine. 

Philippians 2:15.

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

What will this “shine as lights” look like exactly?

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Your life will be a witness to others and shine as lights, and people will ask, "How are you so loving, joyful, kind, patient, gentle, and good?"  You can tell them what God has done in your life and help them learn about God (that’s undersheparding someone - helping them along in the Word until they can stand and believe and help someone else). 

I encourage you to build these 5 basics (pray, read the Word, fellowship, give, and witness)  into your life and prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God according to Romans 12:2. 

These five basics are actions we take that build faithfulness and prepare us to walk powerfully to overcome any of life’s situations!
